Frequently Asked Questions
1. Do you accept insurance?
My practice is private pay only, meaning I do not accept payment from Health Insurance Companies. I would be happy to discuss the alternative option of providing Superbills so that you can request reimbursement from your health insurance provider.
2.What are the benefits of private pay?
The benefits of paying out of pocket and the reasons why I do not accept insurance are that insurance companies mandate a diagnosis and can often put a limit on the number of sessions you can have within the calendar year or the week regardless of what you are going through or what your therapeutic needs are.
For some clients choosing private pay can be a better fit. Using private pay allows you to engage in therapy in a way that accommodates your support needs on your terms. It also allows me as a provider to provide specialized services to address your needs when and as much as is therapeutically appropriate and necessary without the time restrictions provided by health insurance carriers.
3. Can I use my HSA/FSA account for payment?
Yes, our practice offers a variety of payment options.
4. Do you offer sliding scale?
At this time sliding scale is not offered to new clients. Once a therapeutic relationship is established, there may be options for flexible payment arrangements made at the therapist's discretion.
5. Do you offer In-Person Sessions?
Currently all sessions are virtual and provided through a secure Telehealth Electronic Health System.
6. Do you work with children or adolescents ?
Currently, I work only with Adults.
7. What is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a specialized and structured therapy that encourages and supports clients to address a traumatic memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which is linked to the significant decrease in severity and intensity of emotions and somatic sensations associated with the trauma memories.
(EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and PTSD symptoms. Ongoing research supports positive clinical outcomes, showing EMDR therapy as a helpful treatment for disorders such as anxiety, depression, OCD, chronic pain, addictions, and other distressing life experiences.
